Vegetable tanned leather

Our artisan makers choose a high grade leather, that they treat with natural vegetable pigments, making a shoe that’s softer & kinder to your skin.

A traditional process of time and nature

Vegetable tanning is a traditional method of tanning leather that involves using natural tannin derived from plants to make the colour.

Natural tannin extracted from plants like oak, Quebecois, and mimosa are applied to the hide, and it's left to soak in the solution for several weeks.

The natural leather is conditioned with natural oils and fats to make it super soft and ready for use.

The process of vegetable tanning is more time consuming than other chemical tanning methods, but it produces a naturally breathable leather that ages with beauty and comfort.

Better for people and planet

BIODEGRADABLE

Unlike chemically treated or synthetic vegan leather, our natural vegetable tanned leather is both biodegradable and recyclable.

NON-TOXIC

Vegetable tanning makes the leather non-toxic and kinder to your skin, as it doesn't contain chemicals, or the metal Chrome, found in factory produced leather.

BUTTERY SOFT

Softer and more supple than factory produced leather. The natural leather allows your feet to breathe and the leather to adapt to your feet over time.
